Description
Walnut Tree House is a 15th-century Wealden hall house located on South Street in Boughton. The building is timber framed and exposed, featuring painted brick and plaster infill, and consists of four framed bays. It has a plain tiled roof and stands two storeys high on a plinth. The large panelled frame includes tension braces, with the end bays jettied on dragon posts at the left and supported by brackets at the right. A flying wall plate over the central bays is carried on arched braces. The roof is hipped, with stacks located at the end left, centre left, and end right. The first floor has four wooden casements of various sizes, while the ground floor has three casements and two rib and stud doors set in four-centred arched surrounds to the centre left. There is a catslide outshot to the left. Inside, the house features a crown post roof.
