Description

Delbridge House is a large 18th-century house located on Preston Street. It is a three-story building with five windows, constructed of red brick and featuring two cemented stringcourses above the ground floor. A similar cornice and parapet tops the facade, with the original glazing bars preserved. The ground-floor windows are round-headed and recessed within an arching detail. A porch with twin wooden Doric columns, rising three steps, leads to a recessed, round-headed doorway. This doorway incorporates a semi-circular fanlight above a six-panelled door. The west front of the house includes two projecting wings, also with brick cornices and parapets, and lunette windows on the second floor. A more recent, lower addition connects to these wings. Delbridge House is part of a group value context with numbers 55 to 59 on Preston Street.
