Description
The Carriage Shed at Faversham Station, built around 1858, is a structure made of stock brick with red brick dressings, while the rear elevation is faced with render designed to imitate masonry. The roof is currently covered with asbestos sheeting. This long, single-storey building features a gable that is split in the center, creating two parallel roof ranges.
On the north side, there are projecting brick pilasters and round-headed arches. Attached to the right-hand side is a one-storey office building, also constructed of brick, with a slate roof and three brick chimney stacks. The office has nine round-headed fixed casements and a three-light bay at the end, which includes round-headed windows and a round-headed doorcase. There is also a three-light canted bay with round-headed windows on the side of this office.
The south side of the shed is rendered and features twelve round-headed casements, along with a later lean-to. The west side has two casements with thirty panes and two red brick pilasters. The east side contains a flat opening designed to accommodate carriages. This building was constructed for the East Kent Railway line.
