Description

This is an early 19th century block of two houses originally designed as a single composition, though the ground floor has been altered with roughcast rendering. The building is three storeys high and has five windows. The ground floor features rusticated detailing, topped by a stringcourse. A cornice and parapet were formerly present, with a decorative panel in the centre. The central three window bays project slightly. The original glazing bars are intact above ground floor level. Recessed doorways, with segmental arches, moulded architraves, segmental fanlights, and flanking pilasters, provide access to each house. Nos 53, 55 to 59 Preston Street form a group.
