Description

No. 70 on London Road is a house dating from around 1700, with an early 19th-century extension. It features painted brickwork and a plain tiled roof. The building has a two-cell lobby entrance plan and stands two storeys high on a plinth, topped with a hipped roof that includes gablets, a central stack, and two hipped dormers. On the first floor, there are two wooden casements and a central three-light wooden mullion stair window. The ground floor has one wooden casement to the left and one glazing bar sash to the right. Access to the house is now through a four-panel door in a one-storey early 19th-century brick range to the left, which was formerly a shop and includes half-glazed double doors, glazing bar windows, and a moulded fascia above.
