Description
Mill House is a house built around 1800, constructed of painted brick with late 20th-century concrete interlocking tiled roofs. The building features two parallel main sections and a single-storey attic wing at the rear. It has two storeys and a basement set on a plinth, with chimney stacks at both ends. The windows are regularly arranged, with two late 20th-century wooden casements on each floor and a basement opening to the left. The central entrance door has six panels, with the top two being glazed, and is topped with a semi-circular traceried fanlight and a pilastered doorcase with an open pediment. The rear wings, which also have casement windows, have more steeply pitched roofs and may be of earlier construction. This house was the mill house for a nearby mill built around 1861, which replaced an earlier mill that burned down that same year. Although the building has been re-roofed and had its windows replaced, the overall structure and openings remain unchanged. The interior has not been inspected. Mill House is included for its group value with Oare Windmill, Mill Cottage, and the nearby mill.
