Description
Mill House is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with significant alterations made mainly in the early 19th century. It is a small T-shaped building constructed of brick and tile. The southeast front is nearly symmetrical, featuring two storeys and two windows. The roof is plain with brick dentil eaves, while the rear wing has a slate roof. The brick walls are built in English Garden Wall bond, and the ground-floor openings are cambered. Windows are casements, and there is a boarded door located beneath a gabled hood supported by posts. The rear wing is constructed with flint walls that have brick dressings. Notably, the north gable reveals an exposed timber frame in its upper section, showcasing a cruck on the west side. The stepped faces of the west gable, which were once interior features, along with the space between the mill-race cutwaters and the current structure, indicate that a small mill that is no longer present was likely timber-framed and boarded.
