Description

Ashbarn, located at numbers 97 and 98 in Abbotts Ann, is a barn that has been converted into a dwelling. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone extensions and alterations in the 20th century. The building features rendered walls and a thatched roof. It is an aisleless timber-framed barn with six bays, positioned at right angles to the roadway, and has two storeys with four windows above five. The roof is hipped and includes two eyebrow dormers. The walls are rendered between the exposed posts and struts of the frame, and there are casement windows. On the east side, there are two flat-roofed extensions, one of which serves as a porch. The building is included for its group value.
