Description

The Three Mariners Inn is a public house dating back to the 17th century, with extensions added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick with a plain tiled roof. The facade is divided into three sections. The left-hand section, from the early 19th century, is one storey and has a basement, set on a plinth with a corbelled eaves cornice and a stack at the end. It features a tripartite glazing bar sash window and a boarded door with a flat hood supported by brackets. A basement opening is to the left. The central section is built with English bond brickwork and is two storeys and an attic, standing on a moulded plinth with a plat band and four pilaster strips, topped with a corbelled eaves cornice. It has one gabled dormer and a stack to the left. Two glazing bar sashes are on the first floor, while the ground floor contains two plate glass windows and two half-glazed doors. The right-hand section is two storeys and an attic, with a corbelled eaves cornice leading to a hipped roof with a gabled dormer and stacks positioned centrally, forward of the ridge, and at the rear right. A glazing bar sash is on the first floor, and a boarded door is on the ground floor, at the head of a flight of three steps, also with a flat hood on brackets.
