Description

This is a late medieval, three-bay jetty house situated in Hartley. It is believed to incorporate the remains of a much older building, potentially dating back to the 11th century, within its foundations. The exterior is faced with weatherboarding, and the roof is tiled with a gablet and an 18th-century pentice on the west side. A 17th-century brick chimneystack is also present. There are three 19th-century casement windows and a simple doorcase with a wooden weather hood supported by brackets. Internally, some original timber framing is visible, associated with an internal chimney. The building features a queen post roof with side purlins.
