Description
The barn at Brickend, dating from the 18th century, was originally likely used for stabling but is now functioning as a garage. The exterior features a combination of weatherboarding, some of which is tarred, and red-brown brick laid in monk bond. The roof is thatched, hipped to the right and half-hipped to the left. The front of the barn has a five-plank door on pintle hinges and a later window. The right side elevation includes some weatherboarding and a four-plank door, while the left side elevation has had 20th-century double garage doors added. The barn consists of three bays with a clasped purlin roof supported by angled queen struts, lacking a ridge piece, and featuring a mix of square rafters and rustic poles. The wall frame includes some diagonal tension braces, and there is a partition made of brick and weatherboard. This building is included for its group value only.
