Description
Mariners is a building with records dating back to 1600, although the main south-facing elevation is from the 18th century, with later 19th-century alterations and modern additions on the left. The structure is made of brick and consists of two storeys with four leaded dormers. The central part of the elevation is symmetrical and features 18th-century sash windows, a moulded cornice, a lead parapet, and a concealed gutter. The roof has ridge tiles. There is an early 19th-century projecting porch with battlements made of brick, which includes a "Gothic" glazed door and a "Gothic" window above. At both ends of the building, there are small battlemented turrets with lancet windows. On the left side, there are modern two-storey additions made of random stone, featuring a hip tiled roof, a plastered cove soffit under the eaves, and a bracketed gutter. The entrance front is located in the new wing but is complemented by 18th-century wrought iron gates with an overthrow on the left.
