Description
Nos 6 to 8 Chevening Road is a late 17th century house that stands two storeys high and features six windows. The building is now divided into separate units. It has a high-pitched, hipped tiled roof with rebuilt chimneys and a moulded wood eaves cornice. The walls are made of red brick, with a band at the first floor level. Some 19th century rebuilding is evident on the ground floor, where blue headers are mixed in with the red brick. The ground floor has 19th century casement windows with glazing bars, which are set under finely gauged brick arches.
On the left side, there are restored segmental arches along with a plain boarded door of No 6, which is situated under a bracketed cornice hood. The front of No 7 features a door in its original position, complete with a carved brick keystone and a cornice hood supported by heavy carved brackets. Above this door, there is a carved brick dentil cornice and a broken pediment adorned with an egg and dart motif, along with a fire insurance sign in the apex. There is a plain boarded door framed by a moulded wood architrave. The door of No 8, located to the right, has a similar architrave and features six fielded panels beneath a cornice hood supported by scrolled brackets.
Nos 1 to 12 Chevening Road, along with the garden wall to Nos 10 to 12 and Lennard Lodge, form a group.
