Description
Priors Croft is a very small hall house dating from the late 15th century or early 16th century, featuring an altered front and later extensions. The building has two storeys and three irregularly placed windows. It is topped with a high-pitched tiled roof, which has a long hip on the left side that is cut off at the end. The right side has a hip that is brought down as a lean-to. There is one visible bay post. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is made of brick and rubble. The base features coursed freestone, supporting a projecting chimney breast with a very tall compound stack above. The windows are iron casements with leaded panes. The rear view reveals exposed framing with plaster filling above, along with coursed and random rubble and red brick dressings below. Inside, there is an inglenook and much exposed timber.
