Description

Yew Tree Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage located on The Green in Westerham. The building is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond and features an old tiled roof with three brick chimneystacks, one in Sussex bond and two in stretcher bond. It has two storeys and two windows, which have been replaced with late 20th-century PVC casements. A moulded wooden eaves cornice adds detail to the exterior.

The ground floor includes a tiled lean-to with two late 20th-century PVC casements, a double door from the same period, and two early 19th-century footscrapers. At the back, there is a 19th-century half-glazed door with three panels at the base. The side elevation is made of painted brick on a ragstone plinth with galleting, and features a tile-hung gable end and a brick stringcourse.

Inside, the cottage has a central spine beam, wooden dado panelling in the front room on the ground floor, and a cumbered fireplace in the rear room. In front of the building, there are iron spear railings set in a concrete plinth, enclosing a section of granite setts.
