Description
The Old Manor House, located at The Green in Brasted, is a row of two-storey framed buildings that date back to the 16th century or earlier. The buildings feature irregular tiled roofs, with a prominent overhanging plastered gable in the center that has a moulded crosspiece and carved pendants. To the right, there is a tiled gable. The structure includes various 19th-century casement windows and three boarded doors, with the door of the Old Manor House situated under a bracketed hood.
To the left, there is a two-storey, two-window extension that has a hipped roof on the left side and continues down to the first-floor level. The first floor of this extension is tile hung, while the lower section consists of six brick courses and a random rubble wall that was once part of a garden wall. Modern leaded casements have been added. No 1 The Green comprises this extension and one bay of the original building, while the Old Manor House encompasses the remaining three bays. No 5 The Green is a random rubble wing located at the back of the Old Manor House.
The Old Manor House, along with Swaylands, Swaylands Cottage, No 7 The Green, and the Pump, forms a cohesive group of historic buildings.
