Description
The White House is a building dating from around 1700, featuring two storeys and an attic with five windows. It has a high-pitched swept roof that has been renewed with machine tiles and includes three modern dormers with shallow segmental heads. The eaves have a coved plaster soffit, and the building is constructed of painted brick. There is a band at the first-floor cills of the three left windows that steps down to the first-floor level on the right. The windows are 19th-century sash types set in 18th-century moulded frames, with flat arches on the first floor and shallow segmental arches on the ground floor. The building has a tarred random stone plinth and three steps leading to a central 19th-century door, which features a restored patterned fanlight. Sunk panel pilasters support carved brackets that hold a semicircular moulded hood. Additionally, there is a late 19th-century one-storey billiard room extension with a roof light. The White House and Rectory Lodge form a group.
