Description

A row of former almshouses, dated 1841. The building is constructed of random stone with dressed stone quoins and window and door surrounds. It has a symmetrical appearance, with a 1-storey main block and half-gable-ended dormers. The roof is tiled, with brick ridge stacks. Octagonal bays project at either end, featuring oversailing gable ends with 19th-century brackets and pendants. A raised, pedimented stone feature is centrally located, bearing a carved armorial shield and the date. Numbers 2 to 16 (even), their forecourt wall, numbers 1 and 3 High Street, and the screen wall to the north form a visually cohesive group.
