Description

These are a pair of tall, mid-19th century houses located on Chevening Road in Chipstead. They are two storeys and have an attic, with two windows in each property. Each house features projecting inner bays set beneath stone-coped gables. The roof has a fairly steep pitch covered in decorative tiles, and a tall central stack with a modillion cornice and blocking course. The exterior is of random rubble construction with freestone quoins and window dressings, and a plinth coping. The windows are long, L-bar casements with one, two, and three lights. The front doors are made of two long panels. The buildings are listed partly due to their contribution to the view at the end of the High Street. Nos 1 and 3 are considered a group with the screen wall to the north, the wall around Mill Farm House, Nos 2 to 16 (even) High Street, and their forecourt wall.
