Description

Crown House is an 18th-century building located on the north side of High Street in Chipstead. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring four windows. The roof is a half hipped tiled mansard style with three hipped dormers and a bracketed soffit. The building is constructed of red brick and has a moulded brick eaves cornice, along with a galleted rubble plinth. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with gauged flat brick arches; some of these windows are original while others are later additions. The exposed frames are moulded. The entrance features a reproduction six-panel door set within an enriched entablature surround topped with a pediment. Crown House is part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 13 (odd).
