Description

No. 17 High Street is a 18th-century roughcast cottage that likely conceals an older structure, dated 1694 on its side. The building has two storeys and features a ridge tile roof with a small hipped dormer at the center. It has eaves and a gutter. The front door, which is from the 19th century, is glazed and panelled, set within a grooved doorcase that has a projecting flat hood supported by ornamental 19th-century brackets. There are three 19th-century sash windows, and to the right of the door, there is a 19th-century tripartite casement window with a moulded wooden entablature above. Additionally, there are traces of a first-floor band that steps up in the center above the doorway. Nos. 17 to 25 (odd) and the Butcher's shop form a group.
