Description

Hollyhock is a possibly 16th century timber-framed cottage located on the north side of High Street in Chipstead. The cottage features tile hanging on the first floor and a ground floor made of red brick with a pattern of blue headers. It has two storeys and an attic, with two windows. The half-hipped gable end faces Stairfoot Lane, and the roof is tiled, featuring a modern casement window in the attic. The first floor also has modern steel casement windows, while the ground floor includes 19th century casement windows and a boarded door set in a moulded frame. There are modern additions at the rear. Hollyhock is part of a group with Nos 27 to 35 (odd) and also forms a group with the wall on the southwest side, Nos 1 to 7 (odd), and the walls on the north side of Stairfoot Lane.
