Description
Gaywood is a restored structure that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with modern additions. It is two storeys high and features hip tiled dormers along with a steep hip tiled roof. The building has modern leaded casements set in wooden frames. There is a central ridge stack with later projecting end stacks on the sides. The elevations are made of coursed stone with brick dressing and tile hanging above. One side of the building showcases exposed half-timbering with plaster infilling that has been restored. A modern projecting tiled porch is located at the front.
Inside, the building has very stout posts, beams, and diagonal braces. The roof is a collar-purlin type with rudimentary crown posts. A longitudinal beam runs through the solar. The old parlour, which has been extended into a modern wing, features tongued chamfers on all beams and joists.
