Description
Batchelors Farm House is a 15th-century Wealden type farmhouse with a 17th-century extension on the left and 20th-century extensions on the right and rear. The building is timber framed on a brick plinth with rendered infill and features a plain tiled roof that is half hipped to the right, with an offset end stack to the left. It has two storeys and an attic, with a casement dormer located to the right of the centre. The original house consists of three framed bays, with jettied first-floor bays at each end and the centre recessed behind a braced "flying" wall plate. An additional framed bay has been added to the left. Most windows were blocked at the time of resurvey, but there are leaded casements in the first-floor centre within an angle bay supported by carved scroll brackets. There is an arched ribbed door to the left of centre in the jettied wing, which was also blocked at the time of resurvey. The large 20th-century brick and tile-hung extensions are set back at the right end and extend across the rear.
