Description

Duncans Cottages, nos. 3 to 6, comprise a range of buildings dating from the 17th century or earlier, representing several phases of construction. The cottages are two storeys high. No. 3 has two windows, while the others each have one. They have steeply pitched, hipped tiled roofs; no. 6 features a returned, hipped gable on its right side. The first floors are tile hung, with the ground floors rendered, except for the left-hand portion of no. 6, which has brickwork, and the right-hand portion of no. 6, which also incorporates tile hanging and brickwork. An exposed, thick post is visible between nos. 5 and 6. Most windows are horizontal sliding sashes, though a few are 19th-century replacements and one is a modern casement. The doors are plain plank doors set within substantial wooden frames.
