Description
No 22 in Market Square is a house likely built in the early 18th century, though it features a stuccoed front from the mid-19th century. The building has two and a half storeys and three windows. End pilasters support a modified entablature, which is interrupted by the moulded architraves of the upper sash windows that have glazing bars. There are bands at the cills of the first and second floors. The first-floor sash windows are adorned with moulded architraves and cornices on console brackets, with the central window featuring a pediment. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th-century shop windows, one of which does not have bars, flanking a door made up of two long panels, topped with a rectangular fanlight, all within a modified entablature surround. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 12, 16, 18A, 18, 22, 24, 26, and 28.
