Description

Winterton House is an early 19th-century building on the south side of High Street, Westerham. It has a two-story stucco facade with five windows. The high-pitched roof is covered in large lady slates and features two round-headed dormers, which may be later additions. A parapet with sunk panels sits above the first-floor windows, and a moulded cornice runs along the top. The ground floor is rusticated, with a projecting cornice, blocking course, and plinth. The windows are 19th-century mullioned and transomed casements. A projecting central porch, with a grooved soffit supported by wooden columns, is present, although the door within is now blocked. A small shop extension is located on the right side. The building is somewhat decayed. Countess Winterton lived at Winterton House in the early 19th century.
