Description

This is a 16th-century timber-framed double-span house, located on London Road in Westerham. The house features a prominent, higher central cross-gabled ridge, with a gable end visible at the rear and above the roofline from the front. A one-bay modern extension has been added to the rear of the northern span. The front elevation is two stories and four windows wide. It has a fairly steeply pitched tiled roof. The front displays timber framing on the first floor, along with traces of a jettied front; the ground floor has been brought forward and rendered. Modern windows are present, with three-light casements on the first floor and oriel bays on the ground floor. Half-glazed doors are set beneath tiled hoods supported by rustic wooden posts. The rear elevation is tile-hung on the first floor and brick below, with various modern extensions to the ground floor. Number 9 has an entrance on its north return.
