Description

Nos. 43 and 45 London Road form a pair of houses appearing to date from the late 17th or early 18th century, although they may be older. Each house is two storeys high with two windows. They have steeply pitched tiled roofs that slope below the ground floor eaves at the rear, and later brick end chimneys. One chimney partly covers a small, blocked window in the east wall. The walls are red brick with a stone plinth. No. 45 has a first-floor band, but the front elevation of No. 43 has been rebuilt without it. The houses feature mid-19th century sash windows with vertical bars set within flush box frames. No. 43 has a four-panel door under a flat hood, while No. 45 has a half-glazed door within a later trellised porch.
