Description

Whitepost Farmhouse is a house likely dating to the early 17th century, with additions from the 18th century. The older part of the house is two storeys and an attic, with a single window. It exhibits visible timber framing with plaster infill. The attic floor overhangs on a moulded beam with pendants. A red brick section, dating to the 19th century, is two storeys high, featuring two windows beneath the main gable and a smaller gable imitating the early 17th century style, complete with bargeboard and a pendanted finial. The windows are iron casements with interlacing patterns. The right return displays two projecting, offset chimneys. The garden front was rebuilt in the late 18th or early 19th century using red brick with some blue headers, and features segmental brick arches over casement windows, some dating to the 19th century and others more recent. The entrance has a six-panel door with top glazing, sheltered by a bracketed flat hood. Inside, the downstairs features heavy, wide-tongued chamfered beams, and Roman numeral mason's marks are visible. There are two inglenooks, one of which has been partly rebuilt.
