Description
Home Cottages, located on Lenham Heath Road, is a house row dating from the mid-15th century. It is timber framed and covered with 19th-century fishscale tiles, topped by a plain tile roof. The structure features an open hall with two bays and a storeyed bay at each end. It stands two storeys high on a stone plinth, with a hipped roof. There is a projecting stack at the left end and a brick ridge stack to the right of the center. The windows are irregularly arranged, consisting of four small two-light casements. The boarded door to No. 2 is situated between the two left windows, while the door to No. 1 is located beneath the third window from the left, slightly to the right of the stack, which may be its original position. Both doors have flat corniced hoods. There is a 20th-century lean-to at the rear of No. 2 and a short rear wing to the right of No. 1. Inside No. 2, there is a moulded dais beam with ogee braces above and exposed timbers. The interior of No. 1 has not been inspected.
