Description

The Packman family table tomb, located one yard east of the vestry of the Church of the Holy Cross, dates from the mid-18th century. It features a stone chest set on a single stone step, which rests on a brick base. The chest has a moulded base and a corniced lid. Inscriptions on each side are largely illegible, but the date of death on the west end is 1764. The south side commemorates Matthew, son of Matthew and Ann Packman, who died in 1762, while the north side honors James, son of Matthew and Ann Packman, who also died in 1762.
