Description

The table tomb of the Duckelbery family is located immediately south of the vestry of the Church of the Holy Cross in Bearsted. It dates from the mid-18th century and features a stone chest that sits on two stone steps, which in turn rest on a brick base. The chest has a moulded base and a corniced lid. The inscriptions on each side are largely illegible, but the date on the north side appears to be 174?. The east side is inscribed to Mary, daughter of John and Mary Duckelbery, who died in 1751?.
