Description

Hop kilns, dating from the late 19th century, which have been converted into houses in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brown brick, with dentilled brick eaves cornices and plain tile roofs. They feature weatherboarded cowls with wind vanes. The original complex comprised four kilns arranged in an L-shape, to which three 20th-century stowage-style extensions have been added – one projecting to the east and one to the west of No. 4, and one projecting to the north of No. 3. The windows are a mixture of 20th-century wooden casements, and the doors are half-glazed and also of 20th-century origin. These oasts form part of a larger group of eight kilns; see also the listing for Nos. 1 and 2 The Oasts.
