Description

Crisfield House is a house that has been converted into an office. It was built in the first half of the 18th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior features a chequered pattern of red and grey brick with a plain tile roof. The building stands two storeys high with attics and has a galletted stone plinth, a decoratively staggered platt band, and a 20th-century wooden modillion eaves cornice. The roof is half-hipped on the left side and hipped on the right, with a central rear stack and two hipped dormers.

On the first floor, there are three recessed glazing-bar sash windows, with the central window being shorter than the others. The ground floor has glazing-bar sash windows with segmental heads, including one to the left and two smaller ones to the right of the central panelled door. This door is set in a moulded wood surround and was originally topped with a pedimented hood, which has been replaced with a flat 20th-century hood on brackets.

To the right, there is a return wing from the 18th century that features a platt band, a 20th-century boxed eaves cornice, a half-hipped roof, and irregular 20th-century window arrangements. At the rear, there is an early 19th-century range that runs parallel to and projects to the left of the front range. This section is also made of red and grey brick on a brick plinth and has a plain tile roof that is half-hipped at the left end. The ground floor of the gable end features an early 19th-century canted bay window with narrow margin lights.
