Description
This building comprises a house row, now operating as a restaurant and boutique, with a mid-to-late 18th century facade built onto an older timber-framed structure. The construction is primarily of chequered red and grey brick, topped with a plain tile roof. The left gable is weatherboarded, while the right gable features brickwork on the ground floor with tile-hanging above; the rear elevation is also weatherboarded. The building is two storeys with attics. It features a galleted stone plinth, a plat band, a wood modillion eaves cornice to a half-hipped roof, and a ridge stack slightly off-centre to the left. There are four hipped dormers. The first floor has five glazing bar sashes. On the ground floor, two glazing bar sashes with segmental heads are present to the right, and two 20th-century canted bay windows flank the left side. There are three doors: a ribbed door towards the right end, a 20th-century panelled door towards the centre, and a 20th-century glazed door leading to April Cottage.
The rear of the building reveals remnants of a wing to the left, characterized by a higher, more steeply pitched roof, and a lower wing extending northwards from it.
Inside April Cottage, traces of a jetty are visible along the front elevation. The group value of this building resides in its historical significance as a well-preserved example of 18th-century domestic architecture.
