Description
Snowfield Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with a facade from the mid 18th century. It is timber framed, featuring a front elevation covered in mathematical tiles, tile-hung side elevations, and a plain-tile roof. The cottage has two storeys and attics, with a plinth, a moulded wood eaves cornice, and a hipped roof, along with two end stacks. The front has a regular five-window arrangement with glazing bar sashes in open boxes, and the ground floor windows have segmental heads. The wood doorcase is adorned with fluted Doric pilasters and a triangular pediment, and the door itself has two arched panels with a glazed top panel. At the rear, there is an 18th-century stair turret that extends from the ground floor to the attic, along with a short rear wing on the left. The interior features a substantial timber frame consisting of four bays.
