Description
Waterfall Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It features a timber-framed structure with small square framing and diagonal bracing, topped with a thatched roof and a brick stack. The building has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a two-window range. The front includes a late 18th-century segmental head with a carved soffit above a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed. The windows are late 18th-century canted casements with segmental heads, each containing four leaded lights. The right side of the cottage has a half-hipped roof, while the left side features a brick end stack.
Inside, the cottage retains chamfered and stopped beams, and there is a late 18th-century moulded architrave around the fireplace. The staircase, which is a newel type, is located opposite the entry, and original floorboards are present throughout. The roof structure includes a two-bay queen-post truss with clasped purlins. On the right side, there is a late 18th-century lean-to made of brick, weatherboard, and tile, which has casement windows similar to those on the main building. Additionally, there is a 20th-century concrete block extension at the rear.
