Description
Woodruff Orchard is a house dating from the 17th century, with an early 19th-century addition. It is constructed from uncoursed chalk rubble with chalk quoins, and features one bay of early 19th-century brick on the right side. The house has a thatched roof and brick stacks. It has a three-unit plan and is one and a half storeys tall, with a one-window range. A 20th-century pointed brick arch is positioned over a mid-19th-century plank door, which blocks the original door; the entrance is located on the right gable wall.
The house includes a 17th-century leaded six-light casement window to the lower right and 17th-century leaded three-light casements in the dormers. Most other casements are from the 20th century, except for the rear, which has a 17th-century wood mullioned three-light casement and two two-light casements. The roof is gabled and half-hipped, with end and ridge stacks, the end stack predating the early 19th-century addition. Inside, there is an original chamfered and stopped beam in the left room. There are also 20th-century extensions to the left and rear of the house.
