Description

Ivy House is a house dating to the late 16th century, with significant alterations to the front in the early 18th century. The house is timber framed and has a chequered pattern of red and grey mathematical tiles on the front elevation, topped with a steeply pitched plain tile roof. It has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. The front features a plinth and a continuous pentice made of plain tiles above the ground floor windows. There is a wood modillion eaves cornice. A slightly projecting gable end stack is located on the left, and a rear stack is positioned off-centre to the right. A central hipped dormer is present. The front of the house has three sash windows with thick glazing bars. A 20th-century door with three vertically glazed panels is centrally placed. Evidence remains of a rear jetty which is now incorporated into a lean-to. The interior features heavily moulded beams on the ground floor and a clasped purlin roof.
