Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 1.5 yards northeast of Pollhill Mill in Harrietsham. The barn is timber-framed and sits on a stone plinth, with weatherboarding and a plain tile roof. It features double doors in the second bay from the left. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right. Inside, the barn has four bays, with the right end bay being shortened, and includes a rear aisle. The walls have arched tension braces, and there are wooden aisle cills resting on stone plinths. The principal posts have gunstock jowls and arch braces. The roof structure consists of clasped purlins and common rafters, with intermediate collars and curved wind-braces in the two central bays. The construction includes edge halved scarf joints.
