Description
Farmhouse. Dating from the early 17th century, with 19th-century alterations and a 1960s addition to the right. The farmhouse is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with a plain tile roof. The original 17th-century section is accompanied by a short 19th-century addition to its right, and a 20th-century addition extends further to the right. It has two storeys and a garret, built upon a brick plinth. The roof is half-hipped to the left, with a jettied out section to create a hoist hood or shelter. A multiple brick ridge stack stands in the centre of the 17th-century section, and a brick stack is at the right end of the 19th-century addition. The windows are arranged irregularly and number five in total; two three-light ovolo-moulded mullion windows are in the 17th-century section, two two-light casements in the 19th-century section, and one three-light casement in the 20th-century addition. A three-light multi-pane casement is on the ground floor of the 17th-century section. A weatherboarded lean-to projects from the left end. A single-storey brick addition to the rear contains a back door. Inside the 17th-century section, the original timber framing is exposed. A shaped bracket supports the axial beam of the right ground-floor room. The fireplace in the same room has a chamfer-stopped bressumer and a brick surround in English bond. A newel staircase is located behind the stack. The roof features clasped purlins and re-used concave windbraces.
