Description
Little Bubhurst is a house that dates back to the 15th century or earlier, with an extension from around 1500 and alterations made in the early 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is weather boarded, with parts clad in red and blue brick, and has a plain tiled roof. It is a late medieval hall house that includes a jettied cross wing from around 1500.
The hall range is one storey high with a half-hipped roof and a gablet, while the cross wing has two storeys and an attic, showcasing a jetty supported by moulded bressummer that can be seen below the weather boarding. The cross wing has a hipped roof and one hipped dormer. At the center of the building, there is a tall cluster of moulded stacks.
On the left side, there is a metal casement window, and the cross wing features three light wooden casements on each floor. A mid-20th century hipped porch with a boarded door is located at the center. The right return has a casement and a sash window on the first floor, along with French doors on the ground floor, and a one-storey late 20th-century extension at the rear right.
Inside, the hall range has a crown post roof, while the cross wing features a queen post roof.
