Description
The stable located to the south of Rectory Farmhouse in Chart Sutton dates from the mid-18th century and incorporates earlier timbers. It features an oak frame that is clad in weatherboarding on a ragstone base, topped with a hipped old tiled roof. The building is single-storey and has two windows, with shuttered windows on the right side that have old pintle hinges. It consists of two main bays with half bays at each end. The roof structure includes a queenpost design with through purlins and a partially inserted ridgepiece. The wall frame is supported by curved braces, and one wall is primarily made of ragstone with English Garden wall brickwork above. Inside, there are four bolted knees for hanging saddles and an original brick and stone floor.
