Description

Street Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is timber framed, featuring exposed close-studding and plaster infilling. The central bay on the first floor is tile-hung, while part of the ground floor is clad in chequered red and grey brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles.

The structure consists of three timber-framed bays in the Wealden style, with an open hall made up of two roughly equal-length bays and a storeyed bay at the left end. The building has two storeys, and the left end bay jetties out on a moulded bressumer, with the jetty returning on a moulded dragon post. There is a moulded fillet halfway up the first floor. The right end bay of the hall is divided into two sections, each with a solid bracket at the end; the left section features close-studded coving, while the right section is narrower and likely indicates a cross-passage, with a moulded, brattished beam that may have once supported a door.

The roof is hipped to the left, cut back over the left bay of the hall, and gabled to the right. A brick stack with a fillet is located on the front slope of the roof at the left end of the right bay of the hall. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of three 3-light casements: one in the left end bay, one in the left hall bay, and one beneath the eaves replacing the coving at the right end of the hall. There is a close-studded canted bay window on the ground floor of the left end bay, featuring a deep moulded cill. A ribbed door is set in a brick and timber porch with plain bargeboards at the right end of the left hall bay. The interior has not been inspected.
