Description
This barn, located about 40 metres northeast of Henhurst Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a plain tile roof. The structure features five timber-framed bays and possibly an integral rear lean-to, topped with a half-hipped roof. There are full-height double doors at the rear (east) and a porch at the front with boarded sides, a hipped plain tile roof, and full-height double doors rising from the front lean-to.
Inside, the barn has gunstock jowls on the principal posts, and the roof is supported by closely-staggered butt purlins just below the collars, with intermediate collars towards the gable ends. Most of the original studding and tension-braces are still intact. The wall-plates exhibit splayed-and-tabled and edge-halved scarf joints. Additionally, there is boarding across the end of the lean-to on the south side of the porch that is dated 1755 and 1769. Henhurst Farmhouse itself is not listed.
