Description
These are railings and entrance gates located about 90 metres west of Loddenden Manor, dating from the later 19th century. The railings feature spear-head designs with scrolling at the top and bottom, and are set on a snecked ashlar plinth with chamfered coping. The plinth and railings are level on the north side of the gates for approximately 13 metres, then step down the hill away from the gates to the south for about 28 metres. There is a pedestrian gateway that matches the style of the railings, flanked by ashlar piers with chamfered tops, situated about halfway along the south side. A similar pier marks the end of the northern railings. The plinth and railings curve towards the chamfered ashlar piers with ball finials that flank the main gateway. The double gates are designed in the same style as the railings, featuring scrolled and foliated cresting.
