Description

Lone Barn is an early 17th-century barn located on Lenham Road. It is built using re-used timbers and features a timber frame set on a brick and flint plinth. The exterior is weatherboarded and topped with a hipped corrugated iron roof, which includes a central canopy on the south side. Inside, the barn has three bays, with aisles at the front, rear, and both ends. The interior includes jowled arcade posts resting on wooden cills with flint plinths, arch braces, and a clasped purlin queen-strut roof with reducing principal rafters. The arcade plate features an edge-halved scarf joint, and the barn may have been floored at some point in its history.
