Description

The monument to the Charlton family, located about 0.5 metres south of the tower of the Church of All Saints, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is made of stone and features a pedestal set on a moulded stone base, which was formerly enclosed by railings. The pedestal has a broad chamfered and moulded cornice, with the upper chamfer decorated with carved festoons and text. Above this, there is a smaller moulded stone base that supports a stone carved with grotesque faces on three sides, while the north side is blank. The plinth is incised on each face except for the north, displaying an oval panel surrounded by foliage, a setting sun, and a rose. There is a heraldic device above the panel, and a Latin inscription is present on the south and east sides.
