Description

South Lodge Farm is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a facade that was added in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is timber framed and clad with painted brick, topped by a plain tile roof. The building has a lobby entry plan consisting of three timber-framed bays and a stack bay, and it stands two storeys tall. The exposed framing features painted brick infilling on the right gable end. The roof is hipped with gablets, and there is a multiflue brick stack located to the right of the centre.

The windows are arranged irregularly, with two in total: one is a two-light horizontally-sliding sash positioned towards the centre, and the other is a small two-pane light at the right end. On the ground floor, there are four-pane lights at each end and a two-light horizontally-sliding sash to the left of centre, all featuring segmental heads. The first floor has a three-light casement and a small single-light dairy window towards the rear of the ground floor on the right gable end. The entrance is a boarded door with a segmental head located under the stack. At the rear, there is a lean-to with a short extension to the left that includes a stack.

Inside, there is a stud wall between the left-central and left end bays on each floor, gunstock-jowled posts, and an edge-halved wall-plate scarf joint. The interior also features 19th-century grates.
